In 2005 he set a new Australian Record in the 3000m Pursuit Race at the Masters Champs, and was awarded the QLD Masters Cyclist of the Year. That year he also became the Australian Masters 2 Track Champion. Jayson now lives in Sydney and balances his cycling along with being self employed installing and selling Timber floors.

What is a typical training week?
Try to average approx 500km-I am into week 10 of my build phase,  after coming back from 8 weeks off the bike & have just done the most kms ever-week 9-800kms & week 8-750kms. Cannot manage much more & work. I try to ride everyday & ride 3 times a week with a group, 2 race/speed sessions & 2 sessions alone. I will be starting my strength /hills training next & then some speed work ready for the State & Australian Track Titles.

It must be difficult to fit training, work & other commitments each  week. How do you manage the balance?
Yes it is difficult-you need to be organised & prepared to make sacrifices & some changes to training at times. Family & friends are important.

What importance does nutrition play in your busy lifestyle?
This is vital-I try to follow a fairly basic diet of fruit, vegatables, meat/fish & pasta. I like the occasional pizza, ice cream & potato chips.  As I have a fast metabolism I generally eat as much as I like & have no trouble with weight.

What did you think of Up & Go? / Why is it a fitting product to the sport you play/to active people leading busy lifestyles?
I found the chocolate & iced coffee great. It is a good product for cyclists as it is easy to take after a ride, fills the requirements for a nutritious intake after a ride & is very palatable.

What do you love most about cycling?
I love the freedom & feeling of being alive when speeding down a hill or riding early in the morning when the sun is just coming up. Scenery & people make it enjoyable.
